Figure Drawing – Open Studio Mondays

There will be no open studio on March 3rd, April 7th, May 5th, and June 2, when MECA meets.
Nude models will be available for drawing from life from 6–8pm. From 8-10pm, a new model will pose for 4 consecutive Mondays to enable painting completion. John Borrelli and Steve will facilitate the evening.
All Easels and drawing horses provided. Bring own supplies. $4/hour

Focuses on the techniques of the Old Masters. Students start with a drawing as an underpainting, then apply paint over this to achieve accuracy, depth and a rich surface. The student will choose their imagery from photos, still lifes, landscapes or imagination. There will be individual instruction for each student, with daily demonstrations. Beginning

Beginning and Intermediate Figure Drawing Tuesdays

Working from the nude model, emphasis will be on the methods of the Old Masters to introduce fundamental drawing techniques. The student will be encouraged to pursue his own personal approach as he matures. The class will explore new ways to construct the figure and depict it on the page; there will be individual instruction for each student, with daily demonstrations. Beginning

Portrait & Figure Painting: All Media Thursdays
9:30am-12:30pm
April 3 thru May 29

Introducing a new approach using abstract principals in painting from the nude model. The Old Master techniques will also be available. Students study anatomy and learn to mix skin tones, while developing composition and values. The student will be able to choose a close-up portrait approach or a compositional full figure rendering. Entering students should be able to draw accurately. Note: Beginning / Intermediate Painting suggested prior to class. There will be individual instruction for each student and demonstrations given daily. Beginning

Two sessions per day
