MECA 2007

Monday Evening Creative Arts Lecture Series

The Steve Carpenter Gallery and Art Center announces MECA, a monthly series of art lectures and demonstrations to be held at 176 Anderson Avenue], Rochester.

MECA is the only local, multidisciplinary art series to showcase the international quality of Rochester's creative community.

All MECA events are held on a monday evening of each month at 7:00 p.m. They are free and open to the public, with a wine and cheese reception following each lecture.

The MECA series of lectures covers a different need than other Rochester lecture series Instead of enriching cultural life by bringing lecturers in from out of town, the MECA series reacquaints Rochesterians with our own vast array of talent, and with the energy and creativity they infuse into our city and region to make Rochester an outstanding place to live.

Further, MECA provides an opportunity to discover the interrelated values of participating members. Lectures from a variety of professionals, such as writers, musicians, scientists, performers, inventors, and visual artists, reveal the many faces of the creative impulse. Thus Rochester is continually reenergized through the common spirit of its creative community.

All MECA events are free and open to the public, followed by a wine and cheese reception. We would like to continue this tradition, but the cost of refreshments, the MECA brochure and $100 honorarium for our speakers makes it imperative to have donors who wish to support and nurture this endeavor for the Rochester community.

Our goal for this calendar year is $3000. This includes a honorarium for six new speakers, 3 retroactive honorariums, refreshments, creation of a new MECA 4 color brochure, and miscellaneous expenses. We are considering a scholarship program as well, so I invite you to join us in this effort.

M.E.C.A. is a not -for -profit organization.
